Sweet Beau joined our rescue on May 17th and is in search of his forever home. He joins us from a kill shelter in Alabama where he was found as a stray, so we don't know anything about his beginnings.
Beau is around 6 months old and currently weighs around 40 lbs. We believe he is a mix of doberman pinscher and possibly some type of terrier. He is currently being fostered with another dog and 2 cats and does well with all of them. However, he loves his humans best and is just such a sweet pup! His happiest times are snuggling up with people and getting belly rubs :-). Beau does great in the crate, but still needs work on his house training. He is also pretty good on the leash.
Beau does have a mild issue with his gait in regards to his back legs. We noticed that his gait was slightly off and seems to favor his back right leg. We took him to our vets and did bloodwork and had x-rays done on his legs and pelvis which were sent off to a radiologist for review. Bloodwork was completely fine and the radiologist found nothing unusual in the x-rays. There are no indications of genetic mutations or neurological disease. Both the radiologist and vet believe this is possibly an injury that was sustained as a young puppy involving his tendons and ligaments that have healed, however, not properly. Beau is not in pain and may always have an "off" gait. He could be taken to a orthopedic specialist to do further testing, but it would not be necessary. Beau is a very happy puppy and runs around and plays with the other dogs and doesn't seem to notice any difference :-)! We hope this won't deter someone from wanting to adopt him as he is truly such a sweet, loveable puppy.
Beau is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, flea/tick/heartworm preventative and dewormings. His adoption fee is $375.
