Sweet Shaggy joined our rescue back on May 16th from Alabama where he was found as a stray. We have waited to get him posted as he is an older boy and needed some medical care. however, he is doing great now and ready to find his forever home!
Shaggy came to us with a severe UTI, skin issues and a dire need of a dental. We also did bloodwork on him and it looks good according to our vet. We also took care of his dental and he now only has a few teeth left, so he will need to be fed wet dog food. Shaggy is somewhere between 8 and 10 years old based on our vet's opinion. We believe he is a shih tzu and pekingnese mix, but that is just a guess. He currently weighs 11 lbs.
Since Shaggy is an older dog, he is quite mellow. At his foster home, he just loves laying outside in the sun when the weather isn't too hot. He enjoys taking a few walks a day and walks well on the leash, but if you let him...he would sleep the day away! He is being fostered with another dog and is totally fine with him and could careless about the cat. Shaggy just enjoys snuggling up in a cozy dog bed or curling up on a pillow on the couch. He is housetrained and he is not crated as it is not necessary. His ideal home would be a quieter home where he can just relax.
Shaggy is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines as well as flea/tick, and heartworm prevention. We also treated him for his UTI, skin issues and a dental. His adoption fee is $300.
