Hermes joined our rescue on October 27th from Georgia in search of his new forever home. This poor guy has been through a lot in the last year :-(. His owner had passed away and he had a life long friend named Gizmo. When his owner passed, he was taken in by a family who had dogs, cats and kids. Life was good for about 9 months, but then all the dogs started squabbling; the husband and wife got a divorce and Hermes and Gizmo found themselves living on a screened in porch for 3 months. As you can figure the story.....they ended up at the shelter. Gizmo and Hermes were separated and now trying to figure out life by themselves in new and scary places :-(.
Hermes is nervous when meeting new people. He can give a bark and even growl, but he does warm up once he knows you. We are letting him settle in at his own pace. Hermes loves to go for walks and has this cute prance/trot while walking :-). He is house trained and seems to just be a couch potato....as most senior dogs can be. He is pretty quiet and has only barked when the house dog did...LOL! His foster home has an older, smaller dog that he has been completely fine with.
We feel since Hermes is nervous in meeting new people, no children in the house. The most ideal home for this senior boy is a quiet one with not a lot of "traffic". He really just wants to chill out and relax without a lot of chaos! Who can blame him!!
Hermes is 10 years old and appears to be a Jack Russell Terrier mix weighing in at 20 lbs. We have had him to the vet and did his bloodwork, urinalysis and fecal tests. He is current on vaccines, neutered, and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250.

Thank you for your interest in a senior, rescue dog!!
