Back in October this boy was picked up as a stray, taken to a high kill shelter, and due to a skin issue he was to be euthanized.  Nobody wanted to touch him because he looked so contagious; his hair was falling out which left him chilled, and he was itching without relief, so of course he was exhausted, skinny and depressed as well.  Please see pictures of his progress below.  Today, the itch is gone, he has a new and beautifully healthy coat coming in, has gained some weight and is a very happy and playful boy.

We gave him antibiotics, antifungal (just in case), and antihistamines to relieve his itching, a good medicated bath, and he is being fed a good brand of dry dog food.  He has had 3 skin scrapes (nothing appeared) and a thyroid test (nothing wrong there either).  This may have been caused by a bad case of fleas, or possibly mange, combined with junk dog food.  In short, gross neglect, which almost cost this wonderful little dog his life.

Mannie is now neutered, had his shots, treated for fleas/ticks and been professionally wormed. He has tested negative for heartworm/lyme disease. He is housetrained, great on leash and rides well in a car.

Mannie gets along with most dogs and would probably be happiest in a home with a friendly dog who likes to play.   Mannie is in a foster home with adult dogs, a puppy and a cat.  He likes children as well.  Cocker Spaniels require regular grooming at least every 8 weeks.
