UPDATE 8/26/10
Adrienne has been spayed and is doing great! It has taken her a few weeks to feel comfortable with me, but now she is and she listens like a Gem. She LOVES to run and play and go for walks! She has a surprising amount of energy for an older dog. We take walks often and, with the leader, I barely can tell she's on the other end of the leash. She will make a great protector of someone's home and family as she loves to let passerby's know she's there and they won't be getting in without her owner's say so! She also loves getting affection and will give kisses until YOU are wore out! She is so sweet and gets along great with my perm dogs. AND despite the vet predictions, her fur is growing back very well on her butt and behind her ears and she is medication free. She's a dollbaby and cuddlebug - won't someone consider giving this older girl a furever home?
Adrienne is sadly an unwanted product from a divorce and was left behind with very little care. Her owners divorced and left her behind to live in a trailer by herself. The man did stop by 2 or 3 times a week to feed her and give her water....but, other than that, she had to fend for herself. She had to live in trailer with heat indices of over 100 degrees and obviously had to live in her own urine and feces. On top of already miserable living conditions, she was flea infested. Fortunately, other family members were made aware of what Adrienne was having to endure and a family member went and rescued her from her unbearable living conditions. She was taken to the vets and other than having an allergic reaction to severe flea infestation, she is in good health!
Adrienne is somewhere between 7 and 8 years old and is a black labrador retriever mix. She weighs 60 pounds and is now current on all of her vaccines. She was also tested for Heartworm and Lyme and the results were negative. She is spayed.
Adrienne is a very, very sweet dog! She was living with two smaller children and loves kids! She does fine with other dogs and really enjoys playing...considering her age :-) Adrienne does wonderful on walks, as long as a gentle leader is used. Her foster mom says she loves to go for walks! I believe Adrienne is just so thankful to have companionship again that just being with people and other dogs is a true joy to her. Adrienne has been taken to the local dog park and enjoyed the freedom to run around and romp with the other dogs. She does know some commands such as sit, shake, heel and stay....still working on lay. During the day, she is being crated and is doing fine. She should be exercised daily as she has some excess energy. But once she's wore out she a big time snuggle bug!
Even though Adrienne is an older dog....she still has a lot of spunk and a lot of love to give to a family! She deserves the good life now. Do you think you could give Adrienne a wonderful, loving home that she so desperately wants and deserves?
