  • Is usually congenial with everyone, including other animals

It has been a long road for Oliver.  Found as a stray with a broken leg and emaciated, he was was going to be euthanized until a rescue worker stepped in to pay for his surgery.  See how far he has come by watching his video!

Oliver is an older dog (we are not quite sure how old) but still has many good years left to give someone.  He has a gentle, quiet nature and rarely barks. He likes to be pet but is not a clingy kind of dog, sometimes prefering to go find another place in the house to sleep or chew on a bone other than right beside his foster mom and dad.

He has been in our foster home for about 2 months and has learned how to sit for treats and walks well on a leash, though not at a perfect heel.  And he LOVES to walk.  He would go forever, I think.  He is not a dog that would be safe off leash, however, since he is prey driven and would just follow his nose to the next good smell.  But surprisingly enough he ignores our cats and is perfectly cat safe!

At just under 60 pounds he is a larger dog, but his easy going nature does makes him very easy to live with.  He would love a home with a fenced in yard, but it is not mandatory.

He likes all the other dogs he meets but does not initiate play very much, and would do best with another dog that is of a similar calm temperment. He wants to meet everyone he sees, people and dogs, on our walks but does not jump up.

I have not crated him here, but do confine him to our laundry room when we are out.  I am not sure this is necessary, but we are still learning more about his habits.
