Hello I’m Scout and I’d like to tell you my story.  It all started in the wonderlands of Kentucky.  You see, I was one of many unwanted and unplanned puppy litters in Kentucky (and other states – so I’m told).  I spent the first year to year and a half roaming around discovering Kentucky with some brothers/sisters and other pals I made along the way.  Then one day I was STARVING and I wandered into a nice area of houses where a lady saw me and called animal control.  I think she meant well by trying to get me out of the elements, it’s pretty darn hot during the summer in Kentucky, but I ended up in a shelter.  I’ve learned that there are many different descriptions and opinion of shelters, but for me it was both a blessing and an unpleasant place to be.  The blessing came from getting some shots to vaccinate me and taking my manhood so I don’t help to produce any more unwanted puppy litters (they say it was a blessing – I’m still not too sure I see it that way with all the sticking of needles and snipping of things!)  The unpleasantness came from being in a cement and chain link box with 100 other barking dogs in their own cement and chain link boxes.  I don’t see how any dog would like to be in that situation.  Fortunately, I didn’t have to stay at the shelter more than a few weeks.  The shelter workers told me someone from a rescue in Pennsylvania said she would give me a temporary place to stay until a permanent home was found.  So I hopped on the next transport to Pa to start a new chapter in my life.

Now that I’ve been in Pa for a few weeks I’m really starting to like it.  I currently live in a house with two 50+ lb dogs.  They are pretty neat, but I think the one is older and doesn’t have the energy to play – although I still try sometimes.  The other dog sometimes will play with me and other times will not.  I respect that and just cuddle with her most of the time instead of playing.  Oh, and the other day I met the neighbor – he is a bassett hound mix.  I think he may be my new best friend.  We could romp and play together for hours!  I just love being around other dogs!  Someone mentioned a cat the other day, I’m not sure I know what that is but would like to meet one sometime.  I’m sure we could be friends too.  The same goes for kids of all ages.  I like everyone!  I also know that not everyone likes me, so I try to stay away from other dogs that don’t seem to like me.

My foster mom and all her friends are always telling me how cute I am.  Then they give me a big hug and kiss and sometimes they even let me sit on their lap to get belly rubs and be petted.  I’m very respectful of the attention they give me and when they stop petting me I know that means they are done and I’ll jump down.  Oh, did I tell you how much I L.O.V.E. playing with toys?  I didn’t really know what toys were until I came to my foster home.  My foster mom is sooo cool because she has toys everywhere!  I think my favorite toy is the green plastic/rubber ball.  I like throwing that around a lot.  I also like chewing on the nylabones and rope toys too.  Really, I like anything and everything!  There are these cool things I see my foster mom putting on her feet when she goes outside.  I keep trying to chew on them but she yells at me.  I guess that means they aren’t my toys.  Sometimes I forget that but she always reminds me.  Maybe one day I’ll remember that those flip-flop things are not dog toys!  Even though I sometimes get yelled at for chewing something that isn't mine, this "home" thing is so much better than being out in the wild.  I get served two meals a day and always have a drink available - no more searching for my dinner!  I also figured out that I'm not supposed to go potty in the home - so when I have to go I hold it until my foster mom takes me outside.

Well, that’s my story so far.  I can’t wait to open a new chapter in my life.  Will you be a part of it?  If so, I promise to be a good boy and do everything you say.  If you have any questions about my story or if you think you want to become a part of my life story, please email my foster mom at alcoble9602@yahoo.cm or you can fill out an application to adopt me at www.worthytails.rescuegroups.org   My adoption fee is $250, which covers all my vaccines, neuter, and microchip.

I can’t wait to meet you!
