Lily arrived to our rescue on Saturday, June 30th and she has turned out to be the wonderful dog that the shelter claimed her to be!!  This pretty girl does not know a stranger and LOVES everyone she meets!  She is just a happy, social dog that enjoys being with other dogs and humans and grateful to receive some attention :-)

Lily is approximately a year old.  She is a yellow lab mix....with what....we aren't exactly sure.  She is medium in size.....around 53 pounds.  We don't anticipate that she will get much bigger because she should be done growing.  Lily seems to be housebroken as there have been no accidents and believe that she was an indoor dog at one point as she is well behaved in the house.  She is being fostered with 3 male labs and does great with them!  The household also consists of 2 teenage girls and Lily loves them as well.  We do not see any issues in placing her with young kids other than her size.  This smart girl also knows some commands......so, it appears she was someone's pet.  Playing fetch is her game and she brings back the tennis ball everytime :-)  Her energy level is moderate at best.  She is not the typical high strung lab and actually....seems more of a low-key dog. 

Lily is NOT fond of the crate and seems to be quite the houdini of getting herself out of it!  Fortunately, she has not destroyed anything in the house.  She may do best with a family, couple or person that is home often that wouldn't require much or any crating. 

Even though she was found swimming in the lake and it seemed as though she was having a wonderful time.....she does not like the water.  She has access to both a pool and pond and steers very clear of them!  We almost wonder if someone threw her into the lake as she doesn't even like water being splashed on her.  She is not a water dog :-(

Lily is spayed, microchipped, current on rabies and distemper, dewormed, heartworm negative and has been treated with flea/tick preventative.  Her adoption fee is $250.

If you're in the market for a new family member, Venus is the first stop you should make! She was found wandering around the Mammoth Cave area, just SWIMMING in the river! As much fun as she was having, a concerned citizen knew she shouldnt be wandering around all by herself, so they brought her into the shelter. Since she's been here, we've noticed that she just LOVES EVERYONE! Shes also very SMART! Shes got lots of energy to PLAY, but shes not as hyper as a typical lab. She even seems as if shes housebroken, so all she may need is just a li ttle work to get her to where she needs to be! If youre looking for a WELL BEHAVED, REMARKABLE girl to snuggle with at nights, youre going to want to spend some time with Venus. Shes waiting for you dont waste any more time!!
