Belle is a sweet, petite beagle with the face and ears of a dachsund attached to the body of a slender beagle. She is spunky, frisky, loves toys, gets along well with ALL people, including children, and does well with other dogs. She is extremely submissive.

We do not know much about Belle's past. She came in as a stray to an Ohio shelter, but was clearly someone's dog at some point, but has suffered from past poor treatment. She will require a person/family with patience, preferably a quieter home. Her adopter needs to be understanding of her, and willing to work with her on her confidence. Since we have had her, she has made great progress. She desperately wants to be loved, but can be afraid that people will hurt her. She continues to work on housetraining, but does use piddle pads. Any adopter would need patience in this area as well. She is not unlike working with a breeder or puppy mill dog-- she is learning to be a carefree dog. But when she is happy--- oh my, it's wonderful to see. She has sparkly eyes and a delightful scamper and dance. She loves to go on walks, walks well on leash. She LOVES stuffy toys, especially dragons!
