Carrie

Koji (nee Carrie) has been a delight since the day we brought her home. She has fit in nicely with our other dogs. She is a good friend and playmate with Zack, our Papillion, and every day is punctuated by the morning Frisbee and the afternoon Frisbee (in between they nap together and have become best buds). Koji loved to run through the snow and was always happy when it came down heavy. She would blaze trails across the back yard for the other dogs. Sometimes all we would see was a black and brown blur as she bounded across the snow. She is very affectionate and has made many friends around town during her daily walk. She moves in 3 dimensions and is always sitting up on something. The Worthy Tails folks were a delight to work with as far as getting Koji, and making sure she would have a good home. We appreciate their thoroughness on the front side, and their continued interest in Koji now that she has been with us for more than a year.

Noah
Noah

The Noah stories: The funny part of Noah: One summer evening Will was training Jake. At the time we had him on a long rope .So my brother says” Jake come Jake come.” And he acted as if he was stuck on something. So my brother recorded it. Then the next day we took him out again and he did the exact same thing again but he was in one big open area (golf course). It was pretty cute. The cute part of Noah: In our T.V. room we have some small rugs. And when Noah doesn’t have anything to bite on he plays with it by swinging it between his teeth. We say leave it. He gives us that puppy look like I am just having some fun. When he sees a fly in the air he jumps up and tries to catch it but that never happens. The calm part of Noah: When Noah is calm he tends to have a raw-hide in his mouth. But some times he will have a toy in his mouth. Most of the time his has a raw- hide. If you give Noah the raw-hide that is like a bone he will want you to hold one side of the raw-hide while his chews the other part. Hyper part of Noah: There will be times when he will get hyper and take things and run with them, he will think of it as a game. Sometimes when that happens he will start to bark. There will be times when two people have to trap him for example when he his running around a table one on each side. But we all still love our Noah. The Good part of Noah: We all love when he does what we want him to do. Like when we can let him run free on walks and we we’ll know we can count on him to comeback when we call him.

Paisley

Update for Nellie/Paisley, March 2011 It’s hard to believe that it’s almost been a year since I adopted Nellie (formerly Paisley)! Named after President William Howard Taft’s wife (due to her origins in Ohio and my insatiable love for Taft history), Nellie exhibits many of the traits of her namesake. She is smart, cute, adventurous, loving, and sometimes outspoken! I couldn’t have asked for a better friend and companion. Nellie has been a wonderful addition to our family and has made tremendous strides. As of this writing, I am proud to report that she has learned over 30 different commands! She is a fast learner and loves to please, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience for both of us. Undoubtedly, another reason Nellie learns so quickly is because her favorite pastime is eating (she will gladly do anything for a yummy piece of chicken, or just about anything edible!)-- with belly rubs coming in a close second. Sometimes it seems that she can’t get enough of either! Fortunately, she loves to go for long walks and play with her favorite ball too! There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t take delight in something Nellie does. She often has all of us laughing with her attempts to talk and sing. She is also very affectionate and there isn’t a better sight than seeing her wiggle with delight every time someone walks through the door! Nellie always brings a smile to my face and has enriched my life in many ways. She is my best friend and adopting her has been a tremendous asset for both of us. I forward to many more years of her companionship and joy. -Betty Kaufold

As I told you we adopted Pax soon after my beloved Lady died. He is a special little guy. The first day we brought him home he would refuse to leave the house. Ten days and as many ice cream cones later he was up for anything. It took one day to house break him and he has had only on accident since then because he could not wake me up. He had learned all of his obedience in two months and then his real training began. He endured a 10 hour road trip with no complaints or ill effects so that was great. It was in preperation of the many trips he would take in the future. He has excelled in all of his Mobility asstistance training and can pick up anything I drop even something a small as a dime. He will bring in the groceries and take the trash out. He assists me with shopping, picking up anything on the bottom shelf I point to with my foot. He will carry almost anything and yesterday he drug in package of paper towels that was almost as big as he is. He will be taking his first airplane ride in April, in the cabin with me. He had some pretty big paws to fill and has much to learn yet but he is preforming like a champ. He is a wonderful companion and helper, which shows what love, encouragement and traing can do

Candy

My husband and I were in mourning for a year when our beloved 15 year old dog died. But in the summer of 2010 I started to get "puppy fever." I checked Petfinder regularly, and checked out a few different puppies, but none were quite right. Then I saw "Candy" on the Worthy Tails site, and was smitten. Those ears! Those eyes! So I did the paperwork as quickly as I could. When we came to see Candy she was sleeping on a big dog bed. When I walked in the room, she woke up, came right over and sat in my lap! That was it... she was mine right there. We had to wait a couple of weeks for her to get her final shots, then we came to pick her up, only to find she was terrified of wearing a collar! She got over that fear in a week or two, and made herself right at home. We renamed her Jessie. Her favorite thing, even now, is to sit on my lap on the stair steps. She's very adventurous and not afraid of anything. On walks around the neighborhood she has never shown any fear of garbage trucks, school buses, other dogs or people. In fact, she wants to meet every person she sees! She escaped from our son's yard when we were visiting him... we found her a few blocks away taking a walk with the first people she met. We love to take her for walks in the woods on the Appalacian Trail. She can be off-leash there, and she stays with us. She loves to hop from rock to rock, and balance herself to walk along downed trees like a balance beam. Jessie went to Connecticut with us to babysit our 3 grandkids and enjoy some time in the snow. She got her exercise by running around the yard along trails we made in the 2-foot snow. Jessie was great in the car - she travels in her crate and looks around. We're looking forward to lots of years of hiking and playing with our new family member. Alice Hertzler
