Candy

My husband and I were in mourning for a year when our beloved 15 year old dog died. But in the summer of 2010 I started to get "puppy fever." I checked Petfinder regularly, and checked out a few different puppies, but none were quite right. Then I saw "Candy" on the Worthy Tails site, and was smitten. Those ears! Those eyes! So I did the paperwork as quickly as I could. When we came to see Candy she was sleeping on a big dog bed. When I walked in the room, she woke up, came right over and sat in my lap! That was it... she was mine right there. We had to wait a couple of weeks for her to get her final shots, then we came to pick her up, only to find she was terrified of wearing a collar! She got over that fear in a week or two, and made herself right at home. We renamed her Jessie. Her favorite thing, even now, is to sit on my lap on the stair steps. She's very adventurous and not afraid of anything. On walks around the neighborhood she has never shown any fear of garbage trucks, school buses, other dogs or people. In fact, she wants to meet every person she sees! She escaped from our son's yard when we were visiting him... we found her a few blocks away taking a walk with the first people she met. We love to take her for walks in the woods on the Appalacian Trail. She can be off-leash there, and she stays with us. She loves to hop from rock to rock, and balance herself to walk along downed trees like a balance beam. Jessie went to Connecticut with us to babysit our 3 grandkids and enjoy some time in the snow. She got her exercise by running around the yard along trails we made in the 2-foot snow. Jessie was great in the car - she travels in her crate and looks around. We're looking forward to lots of years of hiking and playing with our new family member. Alice Hertzler

Cody
Cody

A Little About Cody...... We adopted Cody last April when he was approx. 4 months old. Cody was a very laid back puppy and a quick learner. I taught him to ring a bell hanging on the door to go outside and potty. I went through obedience training with him, and he has really exceeded our expectations. Cody has grown with our family, and we could not imagine life without him. He loves to curl up on the couch or bed with us just to be close. He is so affectionate and yet playful too. I hate to think that this little guy (now a big guy) would not have had a chance to know love if it were not for Worthy Tails Rescue. We are so thankful to have adopted him.
